Overview

Jiafu Coating matched a dark wood-grain UV floor coating system around a real customer sample, focusing on deep color consistency, visible natural grain, intercoat compatibility and a uniform finished surface.

Key Focus Areas:
Custom sample matching, deep color stability, grain clarity retention, intercoat adhesion, and surface coating uniformity.

A Sample-Matching Project Built Around the Complete Coating System

Jiafu Coating recently completed a targeted matching project for a dark wood-grain flooring sample supplied as a practical reference. The requested appearance combined a deep brown tone with clearly visible natural grain, while the finished surface needed to remain uniform across individual boards.

Dark colors are sensitive to differences in substrate tone, grain density and sanding condition. A small change in stain absorption or application amount can shift the final color, and an overly opaque color layer can make the grain look flat or muddy. For this reason, the project was approached as a complete coating system rather than as a single-color adjustment.

Controlling Color Without Hiding the Grain

The matching work considered substrate preparation, stain wetting and penetration, application viscosity, coating weight and the effect of subsequent sealing and curing. Sample comparisons should be made under consistent lighting and viewing conditions because deep brown surfaces can look different when light direction and gloss change.

Grain clarity depends on the balance between color strength and transparency. The stain needs enough depth to reach the target tone while preserving contrast between the lighter and darker parts of the wood structure. Uniform application is also important at board edges and joints, where absorption and film build may differ from the main surface.

Intercoat Compatibility & Surface Uniformity

The stain, sealer, intermediate coats and UV topcoat must work as one sequence. Drying or curing condition, sanding window, surface cleanliness and intercoat wetting all influence the appearance and the integrity of the final build. A strong color match alone is not sufficient if the next layer cannot form a stable and even surface.

Jiafu Coating can adjust the coating combination to the customer's substrate, reference panel, application method and UV curing line. Before volume production, the complete process should be confirmed on the actual flooring material and equipment, including stain application, line speed, curing condition, intercoat adhesion, surface appearance and stacking behavior.

Request Custom System Matching & Technical Support

Customers can provide actual flooring boards, a confirmed color reference, application details and curing-equipment information for further system matching and line trials. Final specifications and performance claims are agreed upon after evaluation under your real production conditions.
